Xavier Becerra and Dr. San Martin

Thank you Renton High staff and students for hosting President Joe Biden’s U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary, Xavier Becerra, Washington Congresswoman Kim Schrier, Congressman Adam Smith, and Washington’s First Lady Trudi Inslee as they toured Renton High’s HealthPoint clinic and held a nationally streamed meeting on health and mental care throughout the U.S. (read more about the visit below).

Principal San Martin greeted the Secretary in his native Spanish, and two RHS students, Wisdom Johnson and Anh Nguyen were at the round table discussions.

Governor Visit

Governor Inslee visited Renton High to speak with staff to learn first-hand ways our teachers and educators adjusted during COVID and how they are now supporting students on their return, to speak with our students enrolled in the Teacher Academy Program to learn how it provides students with a solid pathway to becoming a teacher, and to sign a state proclamation for Teacher Appreciation Week (May 2-6).

In a surprise move, Governor Inslee named Rashaad Powell Washingtonian of the Day for his work with students at school, as Renton High's head basketball coach, and for his work with youth as part of community sports programs.

Revised Graphic 2022-2023 school calendar Spring Break change 5_2022

To align with surrounding school districts and to maintain past practice of having six-week gaps between winter, mid-winter, and spring breaks, Renton School District has revised our calendar for next school year to move Spring Break one week ahead.

Spring Break for the 2022-23 school year is April 10-14 (it was previously planned for the prior week). If you print school calendars for use at home or work, please remember to change that calendar with this revised version.

FSU and ASU clubs

On Friday, both clubs performed at the downtown Renton Civic Theater and on Saturday, FSU also performed at Renton Pavilion Event Center!

The plan for the festival also included a fashion show. We did have two students who were able to show some culture! Damion Tay and Maya Belete wore BEAUTIFUL Ethiopian traditional formal wear and looked like royalty!
