Renton High School IB Career-related Programme (CP)
On October 4, 2022, Renton High School officially became a IB CP School!
The International Baccalaureate Career-Related Programme is an academic program offered by the IB, designed to support students wanting to engage in rigorous curriculum while exploring a career related study. It was developed to address the needs of students interested in gaining skills to help them be successful in their chosen college or career path.
In the IBCP Program, students are expected to meet the following requirements:
-
Complete the IBCP core (Personal & Professional Skills, Service Learning, Reflective Project, and Language Development)
-
Complete an approved Career Pathway (Career-related study) and earn an Industry Certification OR receive a college credit OR pass an End of Pathway Assessment.
- Take at least two Diploma Programme courses and sit for exams.
After successfully completing the IBCP requirements, you will receive the Career-Related Programme Certificate from the International Baccalaureate (IB).
Joseph (Joe) Bento is the IB CP Coordinator at Renton High School. If you have any questions about the program, contact joseph.bento@rentonschools.us

IB Career Related Studies
What are career related studies?
The career-related study is designed to prepare students for higher education, an internship or apprenticeship, or a position in a designated field of interest.
It provides the opportunity for students to learn about theories and concepts through application and practice while developing broad-based skills in authentic and meaningful contexts. Students who complete the programme receive the International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme Certificate.
In Renton, we will be using CTE Program Pathways as our Career-related Studies.
